Webinar RegistrationThe Evolution of Glaucoma Diagnosis & Promise of Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Dec 11, 2026, 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM New York time

Glaucoma diagnosis is undergoing a profound transformation. From traditional clinical assessment and imaging to rapidly evolving artificial intelligence–based tools, the way clinicians detect and manage glaucoma is being fundamentally redefined. In this expert-led webinar, Prof. Medeiros and Prof. Pinto will begin with an overview of glaucoma diagnosis: examining how diagnostic approaches have evolved, where current limitations remain, and why earlier and more accurate detection continues to be a global challenge. The discussion will then transition into the emerging role of artificial intelligence, exploring how AI-enabled technologies may augment clinical decision-making, streamline workflows, and expand access to care. A dedicated panel discussion will examine both the promise and the controversy surrounding AI in glaucoma diagnosis. We will address critical questions around diagnostic accuracy, clinical validation, bias, data quality, regulatory readiness, and the implications of deploying AI tools in real-world settings—particularly in low- and middle-income countries, where the burden of glaucoma is high, and specialist access is limited. (Webinar Level: All) Moderator: Dr. Hunter Cherwek, Ophthalmologist, Orbis International, USA Lecturers: Dr. Felipe Medeiros, Ophthalmologist, Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, USA Prof. Luís Abegão Pinto, Ophthalmologist, Lisbon University, Portugal Language: English The webinar is intended for eye care professionals.
